Consolidating a 150-year legacy to redefine the future of Italian excellence.

For over 150 years, the name Villa d’Este has been synonymous with a singular, uncompromising standard of hospitality. It represents a history built on discretion, elegance, and an unparalleled setting. Now, that global icon is embarking on a strategic evolution with the launch of “Villa d’Este La Collezione.” This is not just a rebranding, it is a clear statement of intent. A project that consolidates the group’s legacy on Lake Como while strategically expanding its influence and redefining the future of Italian excellence.

A Portfolio Anchored in Heritage

The new brand serves to unite the group’s established symbols of hospitality—the flagship Villa d’Este in Cernobbio and the exquisite Villa La Massa in Florence—under one powerful banner. This move reinforces the foundational principle of the collection: to combine authenticity and elegance with a profound responsibility toward the local area. As Chairman Giuseppe Fontana states, the initiative confirms the group’s commitment to investing in the region where their story began.

This commitment is realized through the immediate strategic expansion with two highly anticipated destinations on Lake Como itself:

  • Palazzo Venezia, Como (Opening December 6, 2025): Located in Piazza Cavour, this will be the city’s first 5-star hotel affiliated with The Leading Hotels of the World. Following careful restoration, it promises intimate, refined hospitality where classic elegance meets contemporary sensibility. The highlight will be the Altariva Restaurant & Bar, a panoramic rooftop led by Chef Alessandro Rinaldi, ensuring the culinary experience is as compelling as the view.
  • Miralago Luxury Apartments, Cernobbio (Opening June 2026): The result of a transformation by Droulers Architecture, these eight apartments combine the comfort of a private home with the bespoke services of a five-star hotel. Guests will receive privileged access to Villa d’Este facilities, from the Sporting Club to the Golf Club, making it the ultimate turnkey solution for an extended stay.

The Long-Term Mandate: Preservation as Strategy

Villa d’Este La Collezione is demonstrating a profound, long-term vision through its future development pipeline, which focuses on conservation and enhancement:

  1. Villa Belinzaghi: This adjacent 1860 neoclassical residence is slated for a major conservation project, transforming it into an exclusive residence with suites, a spa, and multiple dining venues. This restores splendor to a truly iconic asset.
  2. Hotel Regina Olga: The historic hotel in Cernobbio is set for redevelopment, poised to become a landmark of hospitality once again.

These planned redevelopments underscore a strategic understanding: the highest return comes from protecting and upgrading irreplaceable heritage assets.

The birth of Villa d’Este La Collezione is more than just exciting news for the hospitality sector; it is a powerful affirmation of the investment thesis I champion. The group’s philosophy, combining over 150 years of tradition with modern innovation, is precisely what defines a premium asset.

Their strategic decision to bring two new high-profile destinations onto Lake Como, Palazzo Venezia and Miralago Luxury Apartments, is a massive vote of confidence in the enduring demand for this region. It proves that assets with unwavering provenance, clear architectural integrity, and a commitment to world-class service are the future. This project sets a new benchmark for elegance, sustainability, and quality, ensuring that Lake Como remains the global model for assets built to last.
